About Mike Goodspeed

Mike Goodspeed is a Massachusetts-based acoustic and electric bass player and educator. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Lowell’s music program and later attended Bridgewater State University where he received his teaching certification. Mike is a veteran of several of the area’s best known rock, jazz and classical ensembles. His original compositions, available on all major platforms, showcase his diverse influences. Bass is featured as the primary melodic instrument. Mike’s releases are entirely self-produced and self-performed except where noted. Several of his songs are in rotation on Amazing Radio.

“Oort Cloud”, Mike’s debut album, was released in February of 2022 and features styles ranging from straight ahead swing (“Fool’s Gold”), to progressive rock (“Meter Maid”, “Oort Cloud”) and even funk rock (“Broken Harness”). “Whistling Past The Graveyard” followed in May of 2023 and expanded on the strengths of it’s predecessor, while venturing into neo-classical (“Very Remote”) and new-age (“A Real Gullywasher (Reprise))” territory. Variety, along with bass front and center, are the constants in Mike’s releases. Mike’s third full length album was released in September 2024, and it features other musicians for the first time.

Mike teaches bass lessons at his home studio and is on the adjunct teaching faculty at several local schools. Please email Mike to learn about lesson scheduling and current rates.

Mike plays G&L, Carvin and Zon bass guitars.
